How to Sponsor on Buyiga Island

SPONSORSHIP FEE

The first-time sponsorship fee for sponsoring a child from Buyiga Island is 375 EUR and it includes a startup fee of 150 EUR and sponsorship fee per Quarter of 225 EUR. The startup requirements include 2 school uniforms, school shoes, school bag, Exercise books, counter books (for the upper classes), typing papers, pens, pencils, ruler, graph books, colored pencils (for kindergarten and lower primary), toilet papers and other personal belongings.

For the continuing Quarters, a sponsor will be invoiced 225 EUR per Quarter which is 75 EUR per month. You can chose whether you want to pay quarterly, half year or yearly. Additional costs will be new uniforms 100 EUR that are invoiced once a year at the turn of the year.

Background

Mary and Joan were abandoned by their father when their mother was 2 months pregnant of them.

Their father feared responsibility because he was still a student at the university at that time. From the time when he got to know of the motherâ€™s pregnancy until today, he has never returned to check on his children nor support them in any way. The children have never seen their father and the mother does not know where he stays.

Joan and Mary were born premature and it was very difficult for their mother to take care of them until today. When they were just born, she could receive help from well-wishers in the slum because she was unemployed and had no money to take care of herself and the twins.

Right now their mother is hired to hawk apples on the streets outside the slum and earns about 2 USD a day as profit which can not take care of the basics of the children and also save for their school fees.

Mary and Joan are looking for a sponsor or sponsors to help them attain a good and stable education so that they can have a bright future and a better life.
