Background

Both of Akram’s parents are alive but separated when he was just 2 years old and his mother has not heard from him for 7 years now.

Akram stays in Katanga slum with his mother and 6 siblings one of them being her niece who is an orphan but has grown up under the care of her aunt.

Akram’s mother hawks oranges and earns 1.5 USD a day as profit which is very small to sustain her children in school. Because of lack of school fees, some of Akram’s elder siblings had to drop out of school.

Akram goes to a poor school but he is always chased away from school because of school fees.

Akram is looking for an opportunity to be sponsored so that he can attain a good and stable education.
